The Essays, part one

Description

If you have not yet read the Essays of Francis Bacon, I highly recommend them--he was a man of piercing wit, the father of modern scientific reasoning and no mean philosopher in his own right; a contemporary of Shakespeare, some scholars thought he may have been the actual author of The Bard's works.
This is the first of several opening paragraphs of his essays that I have photographed, just to give you an idea of his style and wit.

Interesting! Perhaps I can find it on Project Gutenberg! It could be a matter of opinion that he was the same person as the Bard, but I believe it to be Edward DeVere, Lord Oxford. The signs seem to point to him, but Francis Bacon might also be a possible alternative. I'll check out his work though and see if it's more than similar. :)

Thank you for sharing this foo for thought and new reading material suggestion. :D
